🌌 Is A Gurgling Radiator Dangerous

the best way to explain this, is think of the tank as part of the radiator, in the old days, you couldn't fill a radiator all the way to the top because the coolant had to expand somewhere when hot, when expansion tanks were invented, this allows the radiator to be completely full, plus have some reserve if the coolant level dropped, there is a valve built into the cap, that allows the excess Gurgling noise is normal and you don't have to "burp" the system. The noise will go away after you drive around for a bit and you'll eventually have to refill the reservoir. I should know the entire coolant from my M35 was completely drained from 2 engine replacements (damn lemon). Last edited: Jul 12, 2013. A gurgling radiator cap is not an instrument to listen with affection. It is a failing component which require replacement and potentially cause damage if not replaced. The fact your dealer service had to top off the antifreeze means, the antifreeze bleed out and you have steam pockets forming. b0Bfsc.
